Charles Schwab Cup Championship To Host Walk To End Colon Cancer In Partnership With The Colorectal Cancer Alliance

Walk to take place prior to 3rd round of Championship at Phoenix Country Club – participation includes free admission to tournament

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Charles Schwab Cup Championship has partnered with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance to host the Phoenix Walk to End Colon Cancer on Saturday, November 15th at 8 a.m., prior to the start of the 3rd round of the PGA TOUR Champions season-ending event at Phoenix Country Club. The Walk to End Colon Cancer is free to take part in, with pre-registration required at www.colorectalcancer.org/PhoenixWalk. Participation in the Walk includes complimentary admission to the 3rd round of the PGA TOUR Champions Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

“As a breast cancer survivor, I understand the importance of early screenings as early detection can be the difference between life and death,” said Charles Schwab Cup Championship Executive Director Tiffany Nelson-Thorne. “In hosting the Walk to End Colon Cancer, our goal is to raise awareness and funds to improve colorectal cancer outcomes. We encourage fans to register, donate and participate in the Walk and then enjoy a fun day of golf action at the tournament.”

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance hosts the Walk to End Colon Cancer in cities across the country to raise funds and awareness throughout the year. During the Phoenix Walk, participants will stroll along the fairways of beautiful Phoenix Country Club on the flat, three-mile-long walk. While the event is free to participate in, donations are being accepted on the registration website and each individual (youth or adult) raising $100 or more by the event date will receive a fundraiser T-shirt.

2025 marks the second consecutive year the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance have partnered on the Phoenix Walk. This year, Walk to End Colon Cancer participants have the opportunity to honor and remember their loved ones diagnosed with colorectal cancer by filling out and wearing an “I’m Walking For” bib that tells their story.

“We’re honored to partner once again with the Charles Schwab Cup Championship to bring the Walk to End Colon Cancer to Phoenix,” said Michael Sapienza, CEO of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. “This event unites patients, survivors, caregivers, and allies in our mission to end this disease, and provides an opportunity to drive greater awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection to save lives.”

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women combined, and cases are rising in people under age 50. It’s estimated to be the deadliest cancer among 20-49 year olds by 2030. Despite being more fatal than most cancers, this disease is less known among the public and less funded in research institutions. The leading nonprofit organization dedicated to colorectal cancer, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, is in a race against time to change that. To help end this disease, the Alliance is encouraging allies to rally together at its local fundraising and awareness event, the Phoenix Walk to End Colon Cancer.
